What is it?
The disc between two lower-back vertebrae pushes outward and presses on a nerve root; pain, numbness or loss of strength may be felt in the lower back and may radiate into the leg. The diagnosis is made on examination and imaging, and treatment is planned according to the severity of the complaint.
